Occasionally cool, but often frustrating. Is it just me or do a lot of the 5 star reviews look exactly like the ads for this game?
In depth:
I appreciate the aiming and shooting mechanics: more immersive and makes the long range firefights where you're shooting from prone quite fun. Short range is no fun. The movement system is not suited to it, and swapping items is too awkward to make me want to use grenades to clear rooms. Bit unfortunate when almost all the objectives are houses.
Restricting tankers to only seeing out of their hatches goes a long way towards immersion and keeping them a little under control, though some (germany) are still a little busted as long-range AT weapons at the same tier don't deal with them well.
Getting bombed out of the blue by a plane is no fun. I accept that it's part of the combined arms aspect of the game, but giving them fresh bombs whenever they fly to an arbitrary point in the sky is bonkers - removing this may incentivise them to hold on to their munitions for the right target (eg, a tank).
Often, games are decided in the opening stages: Defence team gains a strong position while the other team funnels piecemeal into wide open kill zones or attack team goes forward too quick for defence team to retreat to their new positions. Having battles occur in "bouts", where attackers and defenders have time to prepare before an attempt on each objective may help.
