I want to see it again. I laughed and cried all through it. I know there are reviews saying it was anti-men/boys but it the world of little girls and their Barbie dolls. I didn't have a Ken doll and I never asked for one. I wanted another Barbie type. Disappointed that they never mention Barbie cousin, Francine or her Friend, Stacy who came out in the late 60's. I wanted a Stacy doll because she was so pretty with her round sunglasses.
They need to come out with another movie. How about all the celebrity Barbie's. I did want to buy the Rex Harrison Barbie - last look (it's a collectible) it was $80.00 on ebay. Assume it's more than that now.
But alas, I gave away my Barbie (1968, 1st Twist and Bend) and a cheap Ken doll, I bought in my 30's figuring that's why I was still single. I should have sprung for Executive Ken with a briefcase and glasses, but I just bought cheap plastic hair beach Ken. I got rid of them in my 40's, sent them to my nieces as I only had sons and a grandson.
I'm still single. I'm now senior, glam-hippy Barbie. lol. I loved my Barbie (and Chrissy dolls) and loved the movie.
Watch it through a little girl's eyes playing in her make believe world. Ken just didn't factor in much. I'll have to ask if my nieces if they ever played much with the Ken doll. I did have a few outfits for him, including a faux racoon coat and a tux (to marry Barbie in). I think that's how they used him is when they set up a wedding with all their Barbie's. My old 1968 Barbie being the mother of the bride. :-) BTW she was in good condition with all her hair length.
