I've worked with kids like this & I have to say it's so real, I cried all the way through. Helena Zengel is fabulous as Benni. Trigger warning, though - if you have a trauma history you may want to take it easy watching... this film is very intense.

The very moving story of young men from Chicago's blighted West Side, who take up the challenge of becoming a rowing team (rowing being a sport dominated by white, upper-crust preppie athletes), who follow through for a season, and find their lives changed. Recently, the core team members, now in their 40s, reconvened to race again, this time inviting officers from Chicago Police Department to train with them and race on their very team. Tremendously inspiring!
