Squid game was my favorite series of all time. From the complex plot to the way you characterized the characters, everything was perfect. I love the way you showcased each player and showed both the good and wicked sides of human society and how much differently each reacts to the difficulties. It would be little to say that I was excited for the third season. After I watched the first two episodes, I practically fell in love with it.
About the third season I have no words. I see the vision you wanted to represent but that definitely wasn't the way. It was like a ten years old child assembled it. The ending was unclear, all the good characters DIED and the whole point of ending the squid game was ruined. What do you mean a baby who hasn't even opened her eyes won milions of dollars? Unreal and overboard as it is I thought I could swallow it, little did I know that the ending would baffle me even more. It left me with so many questions. People who survived don't recognize each other. How did the players daughter get out of the hospital? Did he even get the money? Why did the policeman get the baby? Not like it was from his brother. Why was the money handed to him instead of the man with a "sick" daughter? You destroyed the whole island and left no crumbs? An explosion that big would've been heard from miles away. "It's a film" you'd say, but if the whole theme is based on actual human behavior, you cannot just neglect a huge fact like that. The point of continuing the games in America seems like a cheap copy. Through the entire show you created iconic characters that cannot be so easily replaced. Giving Gi-Han's daughter his bloodied suit, leaving without explanation, no word from anyone and randomly mentioning characters who already had a good ending in season two felt like trying to fix the mess you've made.
Even though the last season was a complete mess, I'm thankful that you made a fantastic show like this. I enjoyed watching it, creating multiple scenarios but you still managed to shock and surprise me with the outcome of certain situations.
In the end, I'd definitely recommend watching the show but leaving the ending of the 2nd and 3rd season to your imagination.
The best of blessings,
Mia
