The story is really charming, a great setting, a bit spicy, and loads of fun. My primary complaint is that the narrators are absolutely dreadful. The male narrator John Hartley sounds like he should be reading as a serial killer in a thriller, not a romantic male lead. Even worse, his Scottish accent oftentimes sounds like a bad vampire. As for Imogen Church, where to start? Every time I hear her narration, I groan. Her accents are dreadful, and her side character voices are ridiculous and annoying. For main characters, she has two tones (1) constant edge of an anxiety attack or (2) annoyed, explaining something extremely simple to an idiot, slowly stressing every word in a sentence. Do yourself a favor and read the physical book.

Bloody awful on every level. The main character is unrelentingly victim-minded, weak, and annoying. She spends an inordinate amount of time whining about her situation but doing absolutely nothing to help herself. The story drags on for hours with nothing remarkable developing. The reviews talk about "cat & mouse" but it's never clear (until the end) what the actual game was. Just a bunch of ambiguously dodgy characters who do almost nothing except move a vase or leave a door open. The story could have been told in 3 hours, not 11+. Do not waste your precious time.
