A cinematic gaming masterpiece. Having played most of the Final Fantasy Series, sans V and XII (I definitely need to playthrough XII someday), I love the modern homage to the earlier games and it has some of the strongest character writing. I mean how can you not love the banter between Clive and Cid?!?!?! And the relationship between Clive and Jill/Joshua, Dion...Lannister, lol. It takes a lot of mature, and in my opinion more relatable, story points and themes from GoT; which is refreshing after so many iterations of more emo-JRPG protagonists in recent FF installations. The general ambiance of the world, the insane visuals, fluid combat style, over the top cinematic boss battles (Titan and Bahamut are just pure joy to experience), the emotionally engaging story arch doused in gorgeous high-fantasy, all make me want to applause square-enix for the dedication and mastery in producing this beautiful experience. Though i understand some of the critiques others have, alot of those just fall away in being able to get lost in the experience/world/and story which to me are what always drives me. Simply outstanding~
