Dhadak 2 is the movie that left me extremely disappointed. Not only was the storyline weak, but the overall message felt deeply problematic. The film placed excessive focus on caste and surnames — constantly highlighting who belongs to which community, which only reinforces outdated and harmful social divisions.
Throughout the film, there were Jai Bhim flags and protest scenes, and the narrative strongly leaned towards glorifying caste-based conflict. While raising awareness about historical injustices is important, the way this film portrayed it felt extremely one-sided and divisive. Rather than promoting progress or unity, it seemed to justify separation and hostility.
Even more troubling was how the movie glorified casteism — something we’ve been trying to leave behind as a society. Instead of showing how far we’ve come or how to move forward, it seemed to drag the younger generation back into the caste-based thinking that has already caused enough damage. It ended up dividing Hindus among themselves, which is not just disappointing but irresponsible storytelling.
To make matters worse, one of the killers was named Shankar — the name of a revered Hindu god. Associating such a sacred name with a negative character felt completely inappropriate and disrespectful.
Overall, it was a regressive, biased, and emotionally draining film. I genuinely hated the experience and am concerned about the kind of message it’s trying to send.
