Spoiler alert:
Amazing and consistently amazing visuals, tho 3 hours is a bit long and honestly, the story is pretty bland. The death scene of the son -I forgot their name and I don't even know which brother it is, the big one I think or is it the small one, I actually can't tell- is a bit odd since like 50 humans died before him and he was killed by the humans he ambushed so I was not that sad, the family theme is there but a bit weak as I just cannot care much about their kids.
Heck, the antagonist -the general's clone sorta took the moral high ground somehow because he cared for Spider, he didn't even kill anyone in the entire movie, the main antagonist didn't even kill anyone, his team didn't even kill anyone, but the protag did. I honestly can't think of the antagonist as the bad guys since the mum also took spider hostage, doing the same thing "a son for a son" and actually hurting him by slashing his chest a bit.
There is also very spiritual undertones, perhaps even saying that sometimes spiritual rituals is better than advance medicine is that scene where the girl was treated with making small holes on her body to let out the bad stuff or something than waking up.
Also some unnecessary exposition there and there. Singing there and there.
Also whale hunting for an golden immortality serum from its brain, what, and that casual explanation of how to hunt this type of whale is weird and more interesting than evil. I felt that such an act could have been represented as a bit more cruel than sophisticated, though the outcast whale did that job well.
