After watching the first 2 series of monster and being familliar with Ed Geins story I was very excited for this to air.
I was dissapointed, it is good as a ssries but does not comlare to the previous. The first part of episode one i had high hopes. The portrayal of the humanity of Ed was great and the causes of what warped him through his maternal relationship and exposure to possible imagery.
However the voice (after comparing to it to interview tapes) was distracting and almost cartoonish in some regard.
The storyline also seemed off canter, it almost seemed like it was turning into a play at some parts and there are a lot of innacuracies throughout.
I get artistic choices etc but the first two series felt a lot more authentic in the portrayal of what happened as opposed to the loose telling of Gein.
As a series to watch it is entertaining, and i would suggest watching it as its own entity ratger than expecting it to be more true to real life events.
