Story story story, where was it? No disrespect to the actors. I had the impression that they were sent out into a potentially intriguing miniseries suddenly forcefully contracted into an attempt at a movie.
Fantasy is by definition a tale to carry away the imagination of the audience. Special effects, no matter how magnificent, can never prevent any involved from being scuttled upon the rocks of a story-less sea.
