First of all, this isn’t one of those annoying comments made by people who like the show but rate it as a 1-star for attention. This is an honest 1* review, Second of all, I watched the entire show, so this isn’t a bias. Anyways, onto the actual review.
For this review, I will list of the things I didn’t like about the show below starting with...
1 - Season 1 is way too slow-paced. The fire-benders aren’t even relevant up until the very end of s1. But then in the rest of the show, everything is just a blur. One moment, the characters are completely oblivious to what’s happening, the next they suddenly now a hell of a lot more. A story being too slow or too fast is bad enough on it’s own, but both in the same show? Damn...
2 - Like most anime, this show is way too dramatic. In one of the episodes, the protagonists find this village or something where the citizens make artificial wings or something like that. Then they meet this disabled kid and they become friends. The kid’s father is the guy who makes all the inventions, but then the kid finds out he was helping out the fire-benders (which, by the way, are the antagonists) and he throws a tantrum and says stuff like “OH HOW COULD YOU DO THIS YOURE EVIL EVIL EVIL”. And this scene isn’t like thirty seconds. It’s actually pretty long. Then the father apologizes and everything is back to normal! Yay! Stupid sarcasm aside, the “dramatic-ness” of the show continues throughout its run, which sucks.
3 - Finally, the last complaint. As I said before the story is way too slow and fast paced. But that’s not the only problem with the plot. See, it changes every few episodes or so, which also adds on to the “fast-paced-ness”. And in the end Aang talks with other people of his kind and he uses that power to kill the leader of the fire-benders. Which is nice I guess, but overall the show left a bad taste in my mouth.
I know I went on a bit of a rant there but yeah, that’s my review on Avatar: The Last Airbender. Hope you enjoy.
Edit: Shoutout to everyone who also gave an honest review, and as always, fake-cry like jaystation to get attention.
