"The Menu" is conceptually perfect.
Being true to its concept, its path to self-destruction begins as soon as one reserves a seat and starts to consume.
With such a list of notable practitioners, one can be forgiven to hold high expectations for this smorgasbord of comedy, thriller and horror. Unfortunately these flavours are teased in with such homoeopathic quantities that, like the diners in the film, one is left hungry for something more substantial.
The Menu's menu is pretentious yet not pretentious enough to match the preposterous pomposity of the real menus it attempts to parody.
The plot twists are predictable in their unpredictability as the film descends into a blossoming fulfilment of the included meta-metaphor of the fictional movie disaster "Calling Doctor Sunshine"
I give this film two stars, in the hope that they create an even more dreadful sequel that I will give one star without the need to sit through it.
