As a person who grew up in the east end of Glasgow 1951-1972,
I found this book terribly cliche ridden, and a "work" of fantasy written,by Douglas Stuart,who probably never actually set foot in the area,or knew the vernacular of the people he wrote about,they never articulated in the way he writes.
