It’s really apparent corporate meddling happened during the production of the film. The jokes are no where near as good as they used to be, and while this movie is obviously a commentary on the loss of handcrafted animation VS CGI, it’s unfortunately a showcase of how they’ve also lost their charm and comedic writing, having to let Netflix interfere with their work. It’s sad such great animation was wasted.
That paired with the allegations of them using AI to remaster the old episodes (very poorly, apparently), just lowers the impact of what it’s trying to portray. I feel bad for the animators. It’s not an awful film, but as an instalment of a franchise, it’s not very good.
