Overall, I found the on again off again love story sweet and tender. I liked the characters, and wanted them to be able to communicate better, though the majority of the time they are able to express themselves very clearly to one another it's ultimately moments of miscommunication and pride which results in separation and a painfully long time before they're able to resolve and reconnect.
I particularly liked the writing style. It's audio descriptive nature made it very easy to picture in my head, almost as if I were watching the show rather than reading the book, and perhaps this is why the TV adaptation is able to stay so close to the text.
My disappointment lies in the ending. It didn't satisfy me and give me a resolution to so many questions raised, and I felt ultimately it finished on an emotional point which had already occurred several times in the book, which made me wonder why that moment was when the story finished. Consequently, there are many details dotted throughout the story which have no significance and I wonder why they were included at all if the author wasn't going to delve into them.
This being said, I would recommend for a pleasant easy read, and it will certainly have you reflecting on your own experiences between high school and adulthood.
