I gave it 3 stars because it was actually good entertainment but not for heart pounding intensity but in anticipation for the next laughable scene. For us the first laugh came when the main characters finally encounter the deadly lion for the first time and they are in their parked SUV trying to hide/stay away. The lion is out for blood and has smashed into the side of the SUV and is circling trying to find a way inside to get to the occupants. The lion jumps on top of the SUV and attempts to get in through the moon roof but there is a chain link covering and he can't get through and then the camera cuts away from the lion, and as a movie watcher you can only assume that lion ran away because everything goes dead quiet, there is no shaking of the vehicle, and the occupants don't seem to know where the 1000 lb. lion went. And suddenly a couple of lion paws very humanesque quickly reach over from the top of the car attempting to get at the occupants through the side window that is down. So this lion had the wits about him enough to lie dead still on top of the vehicle in the space between the moon roof and the back of the SUV and not make a peep and wait 10 seconds and plan a surprise reach attack through the window toward the front of the vehicle that he remembered was down. There was something that was just so off that we couldn't stop laughing after this. We also loved the part when Idris is hiding in a tree as the lion is searching for him around the base of the tree and there is a snake in the tree going towards Idris to bite him, but Idris grabs the snake and drops it down directly on the lion, and the lion books it out of there full speed, because apparently the lion is deathly afraid of snakes. I mean why not? If humans are scared of snakes so must a serial killing lion. I can't not mention the final fight scene between Idris and the lion and Idris appears to be meeting his death by lion after being bitten and pummeled multiple times by the lion but after the fight is over Idris is only a little scathed up and doesn't seem to have received any deep or deadly wounds unlike every other person in the movie that has an encounter with the lion who gets mangled to shreds and dies instantly. Do you remember the movie The Leprechaun from the 90's? This kind of reminds me of that. They try to make it intense and scary but it's just funny.
