Garouden: The Way of The Lone Wolf is a show made for martial artists, by martial artists. The fights are undeniably better than the duopoly of Kengan and Baki, with realistic choreography and brutal, well-executed moves. The action scenes are a standout, showcasing authentic martial arts techniques that fans of the genre will appreciate.
However, the story lacked the necessary depth to keep me fully engaged. While the characters had potential, their development felt shallow, and the plot didn't offer enough substance to truly invest in. Key moments that could have explored more of the characters' backgrounds or motivations were glossed over, leaving the narrative feeling somewhat hollow. This critical aspect missed the mark and didn’t seal the deal as I had hoped.
Despite that, I still highly recommend the show to those who are into martial arts purely for the sake of it. The OST is spectacular as well—I’ve been jamming it on repeat ever since.
All in all, Garouden is a show fitting of the label "time-killer," perfect for casual watching, whether during a meal or a laid-back evening. Enjoy!
