Everything about this book is beautiful—including the peach scene, yes. It’s got meaning to it. Out of all the romance novels, this book stands out not because it has LGBTQ relationship but the connection between Elio and Oliver. They’ve never directly said “I love you” to each other, “Call Me By Your Name” is their own way of saying it
The story is heartbreaking to read/watch. Their affair would’ve worked but not everything is permanent and not all relationships are meant to be. It feels like these characters are real and I feel very attached to them.
The movie adaptation respects the book, some scenes were omitted probably because they aren’t an essential of the plot. Between the two, I prefer the movie’s ending because it’s just perfect. It isn’t necessary to know how Oliver’s doing after the 9-15 years time skip. The movie’s ending is stronger and tells us no matter how much pain we’re in, life progresses as normal.
The book’s ending is fine in its own way I suppose, it was a little long and unsatisfactory for me. But it’s relieving to have more content of the two.
I wish I can erase my memories and read thru this again. I was never into romance genre in the first place, but this book got me into it. I love it.
