Hello
I have been watching this show for a few years now and enjoy it! I watch it every day if time permits. I was also hoping the preying mantis would return on top of Cynthia's picture frame.
I heard Elaine talk about how everyone is calling it a "global pandemic" and gave her 2 cents worth on the subject on Nov. 23.
I feel she is probably the one who will understand this best as she seems to want to be grammatically "correct" in her statements. I agree with her statements about this sort of thing.
I wanted to bring to her attention that most people including journalists all over the world refer to the U.S. as America. To some degree this is true however if you are talking about the united states specifically, you should say the U.S. or the united states or the US'eins.
Stating that a problem in the united states is an "American" problem is incorrect as it is not an American problem, it is a united states problem.
Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Panama, Peru etc... are all in the Americas. Being Canadian I take offence to these statements as we are "Americans" too, just better educated.
Trump was the most embarrassing when he said "Let's make America a great country again", Pardon me? Isn't that like saying let's make Europe a great country again?
America is NOT a country, it is a continent!
When I hear someone refer to that country or any country as "America", right away a certain word enters my mind - - UNEDUCATED- -. To me it sounds like the person using the word "America" in that context needs to find a map or a geography class, or maybe you could buy a few IQ points?
I don't have a university education, I barely got through grade 12, but I know where we are, which country is mine and where it is located.
Stop painting Canada and the other countries with that same brush, we may be close but are not the same as the U.S.
Thanks for listening
Bob
