This story was quite a mess. Hey I've never written a novel, much less gotten one published, so who am I to criticize. But if Mr. Mock were a friend of mine I'd have explained how there has to be coherence in a story. Surprise endings should have possible logic to them if not some vague foreshadowing. For years now, I listen to 3 or 4 audiobooks every week during my long commutes and I've never felt the need to leave a review or comment until today. Is this possibly the first AI created book I've encountered? Maybe thats why it seems "pieced together" - locally seeming ok until... a new theme pops up. The last quarter of the book seems to be one attempt after the next to write an ending each independent, and none of them deleted just append append append.
