FROM MY PERSPECTIVE ON JOKER: FOLIE À DEUX
IS INSIGHTFUL, ESPECIALLY IN UNDERSTANDING THE MUSICAL ELEMENTS AS A REPRESENTATION OF ARTHUR'S PSYCHOSIS,
DISCONNECTION OF REALITY, A WINDOW INTO HIS FRACTURED MIND DUE TO TRAUMA AND ENVIRONMENTAL
FACTORS. AS SOMEONE
WITH A BACKGROUND IN PSYCHOLOGY, RATING 5/5
HIGHLIGHTS THE ACCURATE PORTRAYAL OF MENTAL ILLNESS, SHOWING THE AUDIENCE THE INTERNAL CHAOS OF PSYCHOSIS THROUGH HALLUCINATIONS.
INTELLECTUAL LENS
THE MOVIE MAY FEEL DISJOINTED. WHICH COULD EXPLAIN WHY CASUAL VIEWERS MIGHT RATE IT LOWER.
At the end of Joker: Folie à Deux, Arthur Fleck’s possible death could symbolize the end of Arthur as an individual, allowing the Joker persona to fully take over. This would align with the character’s transformation, as seen in previous iterations, where the Joker becomes a completely separate entity from his former self. Alternatively, it could suggest that Arthur’s influence has inspired someone else—a primary psychopath—to take on the Joker identity, as the mantle often passes to others in the comics. Both interpretations fit within the Joker mythos.
