TLDR: Its cute and fun for a bit! but disappointing because its short and way too easy. If this wasn't $70+ aud and the first princess peach game in literally more than a decade, the disappointment wouldn't sting as much.
Its a cute, fun, and unique game. Peach's outfits are stylish and it was nice getting to play as Peach for once (at least since Super Princess Peach). I liked being able to customize her pink dress, even if it was only a little.
Unfortunately, its far too short and way too easy and lacks polish in some gameplay areas. It also lacks Peach's "identity", something to make it definitively a "Peach" game.
The controls are smooth, but are so simple there's no challenge, and the only difficulty comes from having to sit through cutscenes again and again just so u can grab one sparkle u missed. If they can at least make cutscenes skippable, then it'd be more tolerable.
The levels are simple and quick (tho it feels frustratingly long when u have to replay the entire level just because of a small slip up), so much so I almost finished it one sitting in one night. I stopped not because I had to, but because I was sad to already be finished with a game I had been looking forward too.
It doesn't feel like a Peach game, as another review has pointed out. Sure it has her on the cover with her iconic pink dress, but half the point of the game is putting her in different fun but not really "Peach" outfits. They're cute, but nothing about them actually feels like a Peach outfit, they're kind of random. Not to say Peach can't wear anything other than pink, but I really feel like they could have put more effort into making them iconically Peach, and not just "blonde woman in a themed outfit".
Her toads aren't even it for like more than 5 minutes really. What about this game is Princess Peach? Its not Mario gameplay (which is ok), none of her usual relationships are present, and she looks different most of the game.
I suppose part of the problem is that its not like Peach had very deep lore and a lot of her was more around aesthetic/appearance/behaviour, but it still feels sad to see her not really be developed more, and instead moving away from her more iconic parts.
Anyway, long winded way to say its fine. I think sure some young girls may get some fun of it, but as someone who grew up with Super Princess Peach, they will not get nearly as long or as much fun of it. Its just too short and easy.
Its a shame that this will be the introduction to princess peach for many young people.
