Edith Warton is a favorite author of mine. I really enjoyed the book years ago and the earlier scene adaptation was great. This new adaptation lacks the grace, mystique, and manners from the 1870s. I get it, it’s supposed to appear modern, but it’s hard to consider that when the costumes and styling look so shabby and thrown together. There is no accuracy in the women’s dresses nor in the menswear. It all looks like the costumes were put together last minute with the cheapest fabric on the discount table from JoAnns. Very disappointed in the show so far.
