I read this book a long time ago. What I remember about this book is that it was not just about his experience while dead, but about all of the difficulties of being alive after such a traumatic event. All of the broken bones and the groans and moans. Yet, his faith grew in the struggle. The question was why? And the answer was to the glory of God. If you read this book, you will feel his pain and yet, you will also appreciate his testimony. The pins and bone stretching and pain all so he could tell people about how his faith waivered and then increased. It's a wonderful story because it's verified. It's not just Don Piper, but the Army guys who just happened to be there to rescue him. The coroner who zipped up the body bag, but then noticed the tear. The thoughts of a man aware that people thought he was dead. The minister who crawled into the wreck of his car to pray for him. And the God who glorified the whole circumstance. If you are a Christian, it will move you a little bit along the path from faith to knowing. If you are not a Christian, it will give you a lot to think about. You don't have to believe to see faith in action.
