Thought this was a serious movie. It turned out to be hilarious. While touching on political violence, satyrical coups and dramatic scenes the humor appears when least expected and is side splitting funny. For me, best movie so far this year. Not sure younger folks will like this but the 55 & older crowd will get the humor & plot lines.

Excellent movie. Not for the faint at heart. The chapters were not told in sequence which was brilliant and the plot twist much appreciated. Highly recommend you see this.

Updating my review: Went from 2 stars to 1. Just saw last episode and it was terrible. Laughable for sure but totally lame. I do not recommend this series. Have not read the book. Having said that I feel Jeff Daniels was a terrible choice for the main character. He is not able to pull off a rough, manly tough southern guy. He doesn’t give off the masculine feel required for this character. Story line is good but had a hard time sticking with it due to Daniel’s being the main character. I think they condensed the story for this series which left me wanting more background on the characters and additional details to the story. Will finish it since I invested my time into 5 episodes but did think of walking away at 5.

Hilarious show, great story line. Action packed with some dark moments. I hope there’s a season 2.

Well done movie. The critics got it wrong with their negative comments. This is meant for older mature adults who can follow multiple story lines in one saga. As one who loves westerns I find the story to be close to what happened when folks were trying to build homesteads. The end is meant to show the repetitive cycle of death, attempts to settle, the Indians involvement and the white mans underhandedness throughout. Instead of wasting another hour showing this over & over they did a mash up of events so you can get the message of what was happening repeatedly and to set you up for Part 2. The critics snarked off about the ending but I understand why it was done that way and liked it. Critics don’t always get it right, go see this and decide for yourself.
