I would have given this a 4 star, because we have a cartoon to compare it with. However, it must be rated as its own show because it is an "adaptation", not a "remake". That's why it's an imperfect 5 star for me (or 4.7 stars to be exact). As a huge fan of the og show, it took me some time to really appreciate the changes. I had a biased comparison with the cartoon, so I was initially a bit disappointed with the changes. Yes, i was expecting changes (since it's an adaptation), but not these many changes. After rewatching it 2 times (and in different languages), most of the changes make sense to me now, especially with Bumi and Yue's characters. Sure, there are still some elements (no pun) that I don't like, but overall it is a decent show. I highly recommend this show for anyone who wants something epic and heartwarming with great characters and visuals. If you have not watched the original cartoon, I think you'd love this more than most fans. As for the og fans, maybe try to rewatch it with an open mind. Forget everything you know, rediscover the world, and simply give it a chance.
