Given this new album a few spins now on its release day - I have to say that I'm really impressed that the band seem to have captured their signature sound of a lifetime ago and produced an album that replicates the vibe I grew up with without sounding nostalgic. Simon McBride certainly brings a fresh perspective to the DP canon and one that pleases the ear of a traditionalist like me. Ian Gillan's mischief in his lyrics are prevalent, and although the vocal tonality may appear strained in parts, give the man a break - he's in his late 70s but still performing and producing new music. A good album with a fresh twist to a familiar sound that we've all craved to hear for years. Looking forward to seeing and hearing this retro renaissance of the ultimate hard rock band later in the year. So should you.
