I found a lot to love about this film. The music and visuals are great, but the story deserves more credit. The story is wonderfully pulled off and I feel a lot more attached to Mario and Luigiโs relationship than I did before watching it. The finale is satisfying and the rest is just as impressive. My only criticism is that the Luma had no real reason to be here when every thing else fit in with the narrative and setting. The Luma didnโt contribute anything but a reference to Mario Galaxy and making others nervous. In the end, I feel like the plot is a very brilliant origin story for the Mario Brothers, and I thought the film was very heartwarming.
As for viewers who arenโt complete fans of the series, I watched it with members of my family that only know of Mario from me, and they loved the film. They understood what was happening, and they also enjoyed the story and action even without knowing every reference.
This is the kind of movie that wants you to be happy, not just for yourself, but the characters too. You wonโt get any tears (unless they are joyful ones) but it will still give you powerful feelings. If you want a good hour and a half of action and a comfy tale, you canโt go wrong. If you are already of fan of Mario, you will find a lot to appreciate, and you will most likely become an even bigger fan.
