The scenes of violence & self harm were triggering, so I removed 1 star, but this is a tragically beautiful story of how misfortune led to a lifelong friendship with a couple of laughs along the way. The last scene truly warmed my heart.

Nice, inspirational feel-good movie to pass the time.

A feel-good, heartwarming movie! A little bit too much singing, though.😋

My only complaints are the colorist use of only fairer-skinned women for the love interests, and the excessive use of the "N" word, particularly by people not of African descent, while being flippant about why the use of that word by other racial/ethnic groups is unacceptable. Beyond that, this was a beautifully written script & complex, intricately woven plot about the many dimensions/layers of Blackness, and the struggle to get ahead in the world as a person of color, especially for one who has atypical characteristics.
