As someone who was excited to see The Last of Us adapted from the game, I was seriously disappointed with how the show turned out.
Instead of focusing on the survival, action, and emotional depth that made the game so powerful, the series often shifts its attention to side stories and themes that feel forced or overly emphasized.
One major issue is the show's preoccupation with certain romantic relationships, which often feel like they're included for the sake of making a statement rather than pushing the main story forward. While representation has its place, it felt like these moments were given more attention than necessary, sidelining the actual core plot about Joel and Ellie's journey, the infected, and the brutal post-apocalyptic world.
Pacing is another problem-the show drags in episodes that should be moving the story along, and by the end, it loses much of the momentum that made the game so intense and emotional.
Overall, The Last of Us had potential but fell flat. It tries too hard to be a "message" show instead of staying true to the gripping, raw survival story fans were expecting.
