What I liked about the film:
- Harish's character is a fairly accurate representation of how elders in our society react to situations.
- Believing that crows have souls or themselves contain the souls of those who have left us is hogwash, but that's what several families believe in; and they leave food and drinks outside their windows/on the roof for the crows till the last rites have not been completed.
- Sunil Grover: this man is so underrated, and under-utilised. (side note: he was easily the most talented individual in the whole Kapil Sharma show), and I strongly agreed with his character when he said that stories keep us going. Rituals and deriving meaning from them, often comes with stories, and that too, interesting ones. Life would indeed be difficult to get through if we weren't believing in stories.
What I disliked about the film:
- several things seemed forced: for instance, the panipuri wala who comes outside there home. No one goes out to have panipuris outside their home, dressed so well. Moreover, I can't point out what it is about that stall, but it looks so fake. Films have had so many chat thelas, chai stalls, etc, and all of them looked organic. Several other instances looked over-done as well: like the rows of people looking at their phones while waiting for cremation.
- the concept wasn't really novel, as we had films like 'Ram Prasad Ki Tehrvi' and 'Paglait' releasing in the recent past.
