The story is simple, an illiterate man with immense power at his disposal finds himself in an unfortunate situation where he has to look deeper within himself. It is a story of a politician involved in the scam of hiring teachers, a problem faced by the country at large. The usual theme shines along with its subplot dealing with casteism, power hunger and the need to establish one self. This is based loosely on a true story but the writer have taken complete liberty with it to portray the underlying meaning of it. I personally want this movie to reach a larger scale of audience considering the large devastating number of drop out in the past two years due to the pandemic. The theme shines brightly and as a viewer we understand the tussle between power and education, the main character realises the importance but does not shy away from his goal. The realism of this story is the real winner.
Acting: I cannot stop gushing over Abhisekh, he is made for this genre, dark comedy that is one of his strongest play. It shocks me when people still question his talent after consistent movie where he shines and yet does not get appreciated enough. He is one of the most underrated actor and it is truly a tragedy. He is so believable as the grey politician that even if in the beginning you will find him a little irritable but by the end you will force to support him. He is so meticulous in his role that in some scene where his vulnerability and softness is so beautifully portrayed the next will show him like a tall but hollow figure. It is always a pleasure to watch him in such roles and he indeed did a splendid job. Yami Gautam is not a pretty face anymore, she is a force to be reckon with, she has been so good lately. This movie was no exception, she portrayed her character with such perfection. Nimrit Kaur! It is a tragedy that we donโt get to see her more often but considering her script selection it is understandable. She was amazing, she played such an unlikely character, something I had never imagined her in but yet in a few seconds she completely sunk into the character. She is the antagonist but it is written and acted with such clever way that it will take time for even the viewer to peel the layer off her character. Every interaction with Abisekh was a delight, there energy bounced off each other in such a natural way. She was lovely and fierce in her role.
Direction: I almost never write about it because of my limited knowledge but I had to this time. I was shocked to see that this is a product of a new direction. I believe that in the near future we will see more masterpiece from his vault. I loved some scenes in particular where one character is taught the true meaning of independence struggle in a very unique manner. The way he directed all the scene with the main character trying to find his footing in education was amazing, it was definitely a new angel to movie making. I particularly loved the way he decided to end the movie, it was really heartwarming. if you are a fan of TSP then you will love the performance of your actors.
