Incredibly boring and languid. The entire character story of Kvothe is slow and goes around in circles. The first book is still decent enough as it sets the path of how Kvothe gets to the university with good introductions to some important characters. The second book is plain stupidity. Same thing chapter over chapter. Does not move ahead. Its like a teenager's fantasy in which there is a monster he wants to vanquish, a girl he wants to woo, some friends, some enemies, a story that goes round and round. it reads like a deluded self absorbed fantasy of being the ultimate hero of everything, someone who is extremely self absorbed. The interaction between the Kvothe and Denna went on for chapters; it was pointless.. Kvothe is a very unreliable narrator and is just pure self adoration. I kept wondering when it was going to surprise me, it couldn't be this bad, a big reveal was coming to show it was all on purpose. No reveal came ever. Just a pathetic attempt at writing fantasy.
