This was certainly not what I expected it to be. Anyone thinking of taking young children below the age of 10 I would think again. This is far too deep and emotional for them to even begin to understand the storyline. This is definitely a more grown up barbie one for the teens I think. That said it was a refreshingly original and edgy script with plenty going for it. All of the sets and scenery is right out of a barbie doll play set as are all the imaginative barbies we have seen in our toy stores over the years .The film itself is colourful, vibrant and stunning in so many ways but there are some serious issues being raised and brought to our attention here. Issues like equality, ethics, self consciousness and a serious reality check for the world most successful doll. Along side all of this is a playful yet genius take on the makers mattels perspective and vision with a playful humour and light heartedness that is genuinely refreshing to see. There are plenty of emotions thrown in the mix as well for the audience to try and deal with . Overall its a strange take on World of barbie but a very convincing and truly delightful view which I found very impressive. I think its definitely worth the watch however don't be surprised if you mums and dad's out there end up enjoying it just that little bit more than your children just like I did.
