Pure garbage. I watched it because I'm studying French and wanted to practice. Not only is this film an insult to the cinematic art - it should have been a short story since it completely wastes all visual story-telling potential - but it's too funny that anybody thinks it is deep and philosophical. Any reference to Pascal or Catholicism is just a pose - they barely skim the surface. It's supposed to be such a big deal that the engineer guy and Maud talk all night - in fact they barely say anything at all of substance and it's over in 10 minutes. I kept thinking - "is that ALL?" . And the blonde girl is ridiculous - she's there to automatically fall in love with this stalker who is 12 years older, and that's it. She is nothing but a plot device. It's incredible that the same people who appreciate "Chinatown" or "The Godfather" - made only a few years later - would classify this as a great film. It's only good for practicing French.
