What a fantastic show . Loved it so much but will never watch it again . So hard to go back to a thing like this .
I have been hooked into Mike Flannagan’s work and this one just hits you so hard.
The human elements in the series is what draws me most to it . I love the big monologues for one simple reason. All speakers are able to finish their thoughts in full and the listeners are unjudgemntal in the listening. It’s so rare to find in the world we live in . So love the monologues !
The beautiful faulty conversations between Zach and Kate, balancing the delicate nuances of sorrow, repentance wrapped in trust between the two is just splendid. Kate with her smile and her simple rhetoric questions like “how are you?” And sometimes her asking them twice even makes you as a spectator answer her. She is irresistible to the otherwise dead Zach. Two underrated actors who just nailed it .the dialogues are profound, deep and touching in a tender way.
The rest of the cast is amazing . The priest, Zach’s dad( usual suspect in Mike’s works), mom, sherif , the chief villainess and every character is built so well!
As to the ideologies I am no expert to question any of this but loved the humanity behind each person deciding the direction they choose to swim, burn or fly .
I am not doing enough justice to the show but the director is amazing and the cast as perfect as one could dream of !
