very nice story. the main reason i took 2 stars off was because of the gameplay. (i would put 3 1/2 stars but i can't do that here.) at the start of the game, you don't know exactly where to go. when i started playing, i just thought i should explore since thats what i usually do in an rpg, but i was quickly brought down by enemies and the very frequent encounter rate. if you want to play this game, you've gotta be very patient and have a game guide with you. if you don't have patience, mother 2/earthbound and mother 3 will be better games for you to play. A remake of mother 1 called Mother Encore is in development so you may want to keep your eye on that when it comes out. Even when you do use the game guide, leveling up takes a ton of time and it's hard to keep newer part members alive. other than that, the story itself is really good and the characters are lovable.
