I thought it was brilliantly played, the film is truthful, honest, all emotions are raw, intense and believable. Yes, it is dark, difficult to watch at times, ( the harsh, abusive wife, the meek husband, the son's dilemma) but kept my attention. The topics of confrontation, abuse, death, suicide, guilt, resentment, denial, are cleverly presented. The performances are superb and for us, non-British, Annette Bening's accent is not an issue, (only British people would know what accent she was supposed to have) for the rest of the world, her performance is flawless as were Bill Nighy's and Josh O'Connor performances.
