As a DOOM fan since the original, I see what iD software is trying to go for but it's a no from me two campaign chapters in.
The parry mechanics and the shield in general just feels... weird. In particular speaking as someone who just finished Expedition 33, I just want to have a no-holds-barred, high-octane slugfest and not have to parry, shield rush and all that nonsense. I just want to turn off my brain and shoot stuff.
The breaks in between combat and the prevalence of melee/shield mechanics are just too jarring for me personally to identify with it as a true-blue DOOM game.
Of course, the soundtrack is amazing as always and I honestly think it's a good attempt, just not something I'd find interesting.
