This movie was excellent and expanded on the concept of The Grudge and as a fan of the series, I appreciated it a lot. I was puzzled because even though the movie had horrifying imagery and jumpscares that should have terrified me, I was expressionless throughout the whole movie. I know exactly what this movie needed to make it scary. Sound. Movies usually aren't scary without sound. For me, it's the suspenseful music and the screams that terrify me. If this movie relied more on sound rather than image it would have been terrifying. Even though it wasn't scary, I still appreciate the disturbing imagery and the movie was decent overall. I wouldn't watch it again but if you have nothing better to do, it's worth a watch. Just don't go into it expecting to be terrified.
