I watched Despicable Me 2, and I really liked it. This one, Despicable Me 4, is one of the worst movie I have ever watched in a theater. First, it is not funny at all: its humorism is just for VERY young children. Second, it is overcrowed: there are a lot of character with no function at all, totally useless for the story. Third, it seems fast, but indeed is extremely slow: during the first half literally NOTHING happens. The second half is a bit better just because it was impossibile to do any worse. The best part is the "kidnapping" of the badger with poppy, in that Hogwarts-like school. Too bad it is supposed to be a subplot! And, in the meantime, the real antagonist do absolutely nothing. Moreover: the antagonist was already arrested by Gru in the first ten minutes, he is not credibile, he is not a real menace for Gru, he is totally uninteresting. What could have been done to save the movie? First: cut out half of the characters. Second: Gru has to fail to arrest the antagonist who, conversely, must immediately succeed in kidnapping Gru's son. Then Gru attempt to save his son. That's all. Instead, what we have got is Gru & family doing absolutely nothing for 70 minutes.
