I love shows and movies like this. Shooter was my favorite movie of all time, love all the Amazon shows like Reacher, Jack Ryan, what will be Rainbow Six… I was stoked about this series because when Apple TV programs are on point, they are ON F#*^!$G POINT. But when apple misses, they miss big. This show has too much going on, there’s too many angles being thrown at you to try and make the story more meaningful. They introduce characters in these grand ways, and then the characters disappear without playing any sort of role in the story. There’s so many broad themes being touched on briefly, but nothing is truly explored that deeply. The female lead, amber, is just not an enticing actor, every scene she is in seems fake. Her love for her brother and her loyalty to him is meant to be this deep connection and the substance of the sets that up perfectly, but her deliverance of that emotional bond is just lacking any sort of teeth. Bambi and Prince are half decent, they hit their stride when they are in the action scenes, but the rest of the time they are just a whole lot of blah. It’s a decent storyline and half decent execution, apple always does a great job with production and with the filming environment, lots of gorgeous shots of Columbia and the overall setting is just very well done. But the actors are just a blob of mush in my opinion and I just can’t get past how poorly they develop their emotional connections, poor delivery. I wouldn’t suggest a skip here, but don’t go in to it with any expectation of being captivated by the show.
