Meh; it was okay. Nic cage is a great actor and did a phenomenal job portraying a twisted, sick individual, but other than that it was mostly just weird. Every single scene was set in a dark and dingy environment, and a lot of the dialogue just wasn’t realistic. I like horror movies, but I like movies that make it seem whatever is happening could actually happen. This was an obvious theatrical piece. The main actress ( I forget her name) is obviously good at horror movies, but her character in this movie was very one dimensional. The movie reminded me more of the shining ( which I think was way better) than silence of the lambs ( which was also better than this). Overall, it’s ok, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to see this again and it was completely overhyped.
