I read a lot of reviews where people wrote how whiny and clingy Mal was during this book. Most of the books people read, it's the girl who is insecure, whining and clinging because she wants reassurance, and yet hardly anyone comments. Why?
Mal is insecure because he was used to Alina needing him and how he is sure, in his mind, that she would be better off without him because he is a peasant, and she is Grisha. He thinks she deserves a life better than one he can provide for her and for that he is being slandered.
Good book, a little on the nose but good.
