Once again, Hollywood has ruined the reputation of a good film with poor marketing. Previews and tv spots would have you believe that POMS will be about a bunch of daffy old dames hitting each other in the head with batons and clutching their aching backs, while the audience yucks it up. So easy and so wrong.
POMS confronts age prejuduce - not only from younger people, but also from contemporaries afraid to break the mold - and poses the question of how an individual chooses to face death. Marking time or making the most of it?
Yes, there are plenty of laughs along the way. There is also anger and frustration and a heartfelt cry for anyone brave enough to take a chance on this woderful film.
