An unforgivable insult to Jane Austen and her novels. If you read the book, don't bother, because this movie is really something different. It would've been better if they named something different and not "Mansfield Park" because it only has the title and the name of the characters, the main story has been changed and one could say it's artistic liberty, but here in this case it's just lack of respect for Jane Austen, her characters (which are depicted in a very very different and confused way) and the plot in general. The actors are great, poor them, but the screenplay would've been acceptable only if it wasn't based on Austen's novel, but being based on it... unfortunately it's truly unremarkable and wrong under so many aspects that if you love this genre you could only feel offended by it. Watching this movie one can only wonder if the screenwriter/director has read the book, but when you get to half the movie you realized she probably didn't. In general very very very bad. Artistic liberty are one thing... but destroying someone else's work is just too much. I truly wish I will forget about this awful adaptation someday, but somehow I doubt it. Sad.
