Very very disappointing portrayal of this beautifully written story. In an attempt to create atmosphere the scenes were so badly lit it was hard to make out what we were watching and if it hadn’t been for the gaggle of geese we would not initially have known the protagonist was at the convent. The only really meaningful scene was when the Mother Superior attempted a bribe. This film would have been completely baffling to anyone who had not read the book and this was borne out by the cinema gradually emptying long before the end. Cynthia Smith
