Really disappointed. I went to see the film expecting to celebrate my femininity with a beloved childhood toy. But instead I was told was “I’m a victim and you need to emotionally/sexually manipulate men to gain back power”.
What a joke.
The film made me leave the cinema wanting to tell the men in my life that “I’m proud of you and I’m so grateful you’re a man. You’re making the world a better place for what you bring as a man”.
I’ll give them credit where credit is due, the whole aesthetic of the film was incredible and well thought out. The first part of the film in Barbieland was great and very funny. The marketing team did an amazing job at hiding how political it was going to be.
