This remake is quite disappointing. It doesn't have the charm or the human interest of the 1990 original. Having the technology to explode witches didn't make it any better either. Much as I like Stanley Tucci, his part as the hotel manager was better played by Rowan Atkinson. I liked the surprise that Grandma got in the 1990 film when she received a trunk full of money better than this one where she sorted that out for herself.

This is a great introduction to the series which take Uhtred from a young boy to an old warrior. I much preferred the books to the TV series which seemed like Bernard Cornwall had said "here's a list of characters and some historical events, why not weave some programmes out of them and just ignore the books?"

I was surprised at home poor this film was. The villain managed to get Luther put in prison in order to be able to carry out his evil plans and after being broken out of prison his replacement (as DCI) sends squads of armed police to capture him. These armed police are more interested in capturing Luther than capturing the villain even when said villain has a knife at someone's throat.

This is easily the most boring Bond film that I have wasted my time on. It is confusing and disjointed. I don't blame the cast as I think they did their best with a weak script but I won't be watching it again. I was sorry to see Christof Walz killed off because presumably we won't see him in any future Bond films now.
