This movie has some great actors, great visual shots, and great set pieces. It had a lot of potential, but it doesn't know what it wants to be. Is it a supernatural thriller? A who done it? A twisted sinister plot by the homeowners? Is it nuclear war? An invasion? A cyber attack? All the above? Just when the movie started getting somewhere it was over. Of course it is filled with stereotypical laziness such as the ANGRY REVERSE RACIST BLACK GIRL with piercings and random tattoos. A type A control freak of a mother who has a couple of drinks, dances with the only other guy (not her husband on the house) and thinks of sleeping with him. The pre-teen who curses because reasons. The teenage brother who is a jerk to his little sister because....reasons. and the prepper who saw it all coming and suddenly isn't so crazy. And let's not forget the preteen who runs off and drives everyone crazy. Animals that don't act like you would expect again leading to possible supernatural influence. It just didn't work for me and the music being ridiculously loud to enhance tension to the point where I had to turn up the sound for dialogue and turn it down for...tension. maybe that is more Netflix I'm not sure, but I use speakers and a sound bar to prevent that. I felt like I wasted my time when it was over. It was like the Sopranos going to black screen...I actually reminded it thinking I missed something.

It is clear the director and writers do not know star wars or the characters. They dont know the history of the characters, their motivations, their fears, their mission or what drives them. It is like Michael Bay when he stated he wasn't making Transformers for Transformers fans. These people clearly are making...something, but it isnt for star wars fans. So much that happens is non-sensical. It is implausible, campy, PG rather than raw because it's a Disney product. Every BAD guy is inept, blind, easily fooled, incapable of securing ANYTHING. Remember in Harry Potter how Harry was Undesirable #1 and his face was plastered ALL OVER ENGLAND? Yea Obi Wan is kinda like that yet the ENTIRE EMPIRE has no clue what he looks like. Never mind him traveling in Jedi clothes when the Jedi are being hunted and purged. And of course he is so sad and in the depth of mental health issues he can't bring himself to train in the force. How in the world is he supposed to complete his mission, the mission he chose to take on, to protect Luke if he doesn't have his lightsaber and doesn't train for a DECADE!!?? He walks a little girl out of what should have been the most secured military compound in the galaxy under his cloak with her little feet completely visible and no one notices. And two snowspeeders someone escape long range scanners, planetary defenses, cameras, base weapons such as ion cannons or laser batteries, (no tie fighters were launched), space based Battlestar or battle cruisers, etc. To rescue them? And the force NEVER warned Vader of any danger? Literally the worst security EVER. This show is campy, and written by morons. Ewan McGregor shares some of the blame here however because he should know better. You would think SOMEONE ANYONE during read through or walk through would say, "you know none of this makes much sense...should it really be this easy? Just saying...."

Within 83 min I wanted to turn it off twice. Since it is not a biopic it is pure conjecture. Oh to be a fly on the inside. I couldn't stand the over the top musical score in an attempt to add weight to Diana's ever increasing spiral into madness. The idea she could not stick to a script of events, being told what to wear and when, being pampered, dressed, cleaned after, cooked for; oh the horror. 83 minutes in it never once showed anyone actually being cruel to her just expectant; expecting her to be on time for meals, wearing clothes picked out for her, not exposing herself through open windows for paparazzi, engaging with the family, etc. But the movies suggests she couldn't handle these menial tasks, minimal requirements, that her psyche was fractured to the point of hysteria and madness. Was she sad, probably, depressed, most likely, incapable of conducting herself with class and dignity in front of her children, and the Royal Family...hardly. the film is insufferable. I half expected Diana to grab an axe and start hunting everyone down like a Steven King horror. I didn't bother to finish it.
